Remark:

Nepenthes pervillei is one of the most Western species of Nepenthaceae; it is restricted to 2 Islands of the Seychelles (Mahé and Silhouette); here it is growing at altitudes between 500-800 m, sometimes forming huge and dense populations, but growing quite locally. Here it is well protected due to the distribution in National Parks. It is growing in very hot and exposed areas, oftenly at a very thin layer of substrate on granite-rocks; in other habitats it is growing between shrubs. It is, like the other Western species of Nepenthes one of the most primitive members of the Nepenthaceae. The species shows some very unusual characteristics, which cannot be found in any other species, so are the seedpots very truncate and bear small black seed without wings. It is rarely climbing, but is forming very regular sideshoots with rosettes, forming so sometimes huge mats.
